First off, our Speaker for February 24th will be College GameDay host and former Heisman Trophy winner. Desmond Howard. Please make note that is the 4th Wednesday, not the 4th Thursday.
To everyone who did not make it to the Sugar Bowl, you missed out on the best game the Gators played all year, top to bottom. Sure wish they could’ve played with the same energy in Atlanta!
As Gator fans we still have a lot to be proud of. Let’s look back at the last 4 years: 2 National Championships, 2 SEC Championships, Heisman Trophy Winner, an All-time SEC rushing leader, Tim Tebow - 57 TDs, along with more than 12,000 total yards; Most wins by a class in SEC history 48 - 7 and Coach of the Decade – Coach Urban Meyer.
Let’s see ‘Bama top that!
As we now move into the Brantley Era, I am very excited about what the future of this program is starting to look like. With the # 1 recruiting class just days away from signing, we are ready to reload with some of the best talent in the country. With Coach re-energized and some new staff coming into the program, we should see a new look to Florida Football. Spring practices should be better than we have seen in a long time. There are 11 early enrollees that will participate in spring drills, which will allow them an excellent opportunity to be ready to contribute to the team in the fall. If you can make the time to go out to these practices this year, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Please remember some of the upcoming events we have planned in the near future. There will be Darts at the Dugout, Feb 27, Texas Hold’em at the Ocala Jai Alai, Golf at Haile Plantation, April 17, and the Fishing Tournament, May 7 & 8th, in Suwannee. The club is having only one item raffled off this year. It will be a weekend on a 44 ft. houseboat, provided by Millers Marina in Suwannee, Florida. All board members, and Hugh Cain, will be selling tickets for $5. Come out and support one or more of these events and have a great time while helping the club raise money for our endowment to the University Athletic Association.
There are only two more meetings you will have the chance to renew
your season tickets, February 24th and March 25th. You must renew your membership to purchase season tickets. Membership cost is $100, season tickets with a Georgia ticket are $915, and without the Georgia ticket it is $830. Tickets not renewed by March meeting will go into April’s ticket lottery.
