“FUN’draising events such as the 25th Annual Fishing Tournament and the 28th Annual Golf Tournament are right around the corner. Please come out and support your club at these important events. Your sponsorship dollars and participation is what makes the activities successful year after year. Remember all proceeds events are deposited into the FGTC Scholarship Endowment Fund and are tax deductible. While committee members do a great job with gathering donations and corporate sponsorships; if we all work together in soliciting contributions these fundraising events will be an even bigger success.
This year began in similar fashion as most with long lines reminiscent of those at the concession stand during halftime for membership and season ticket renewals. However after the dust had settled and the players returned to the respected huddles we discovered that this was no ordinary year, recession had hit the FGTC. Membership and ticket renewals have been steady but just like the economy we have hit a downturn in numbers from past years. As President, I am asking all FGTC faithful to assist with our recruiting efforts and find those individuals that want to be a part of the most successful, fun loving, scholarship endowing, speaker laden, fishing, golfing and bus tripping football club of all booster clubs.
The general membership meeting in April has always been an exciting time. The annual ticket lottery is held, coach comes to speak and is presented with the FGTC scholarship endowment check, and it marks the halfway point between the end of last season and the beginning of next season. The lottery will be a little different this year, for the first time in club history, the number of season tickets available will outnumber those participating in the lottery. While this is great news for those members looking to secure season tickets, it’s not so great news for the club in general. Once the lottery has concluded there will an accounting performed to verify the number, if any, of remaining tickets. If there are remaining tickets your FGTC Board of Directors will be tasked with adopting a policy within our by-laws to determine how to most fairly distribute the remaining tickets.
As President, I want to share with our members that the clubs financial responsibility to the University Athletic Association for annual booster and season ticket allotment fees has been met. And on a personal note, my family and I would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and well wishes for our brother Eddie. He is home now and has begun therapy to adjust to his new life and hopefully the miracle of walking again.

2012 FGTC President
