It's hard to believe we're already into October-the season is a third over. We wait all year and then it goes by so fast. The excitement of each week's games is what makes college football the greatest sport there is-so much is riding on each game. The Gator season got off to a shaky start right off the bat with the cancellation of the Idaho game. I have a feeling we're going to wish that game had been rescheduled-could probably use the W. It's not time for the Gators to panic yet-all their goals are still in front of them (I'm assuming going undefeated was not one of their goals). We've got some big games coming up this month-Tennessee, LSU and Missouri, with 2 of the 3 being at home. Basketball season is just around the corner and Billy has scheduled some great non-conference games. Miami and UConn come to the O'Dome, we have Georgetown and potentially Wisconsin at a tournament in the Bahamas, and road games at Kansas and FSU-all this before the SEC schedule starts. The team should be exciting to watch-we lost a lot of talent from last year but Billy has recruited well plus we have some transfers that are now eligible to play. We have an exciting event coming up on Friday, October 24th - Swampfest. For anyone that went last year, you know what a good time it was. The Clay Brooker Band will be back, as will Bob Benthall and the Gator Chefs cooking up some great food that you wouldn't normally see on a typical restaurant menu, but that you would see at an event with the word "Swamp" in it. Bring a guest - it's $10 for them ahead of time and $15 at the door. This event is free to club members. We'd love to recruit some new members at this great function.
Let's all get behind the Gators and help them win the east. Look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting-Jason has some great speakers lined up for October. Go Gators!!
